On the occasion of International Museum Day (May 18), the Expo Museum received exciting news. Its exhibition" An Encounter with Beauty: William Morris and the British Arts and Crafts Movement" was awarded the2024 Shanghai Museum Exhibition Excellence Award, while its"WE Youth: Urban Renewal Photography Series"won the2024 Shanghai Museum Outstanding Education Program Award.

" An Encounter with Beauty: William Morris and the British Arts and Crafts Movement"was awarded the2024 Shanghai Museum Exhibition Excellence Award
With the strong support of the China Cultural Relics Exchange Center, World Expo Museum (hereinafter referred to as "WEM") has once again joined hands with the Victoria and Albert Museum in the UK (hereinafter referred to as "V&A Museum") to bring the latest imported exhibition at the end of this year -" An Encounter with Beauty: William Morris and the British Arts and Crafts Movement". It will be open to the public for free from December 13, 2024, to April 6, 2025. The exhibition has carefully selected 123 pieces (sets) of treasures closely related to the British Arts and Crafts Movement from the V&A Museum's collection. Through the mutual resonance of the preface hall and the three chapters of " Motifs,""Making," and "Society," it leads visitors to gradually delve into the art trends of the Arts and Crafts Movement led by the father of modern design William Morris, and to appreciate up close the extraordinary charm of the "British Arts and Crafts Movement" between 1890 and 1920.

To delve into the urban narratives behind the architecture of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, the"World Expo Museum WE Youth: Urban Renewal Photography Series"was launched. This innovative urban exploration program breaks away from the superficial "check-in" approach of traditional photography activities, instead guiding participants on amultidisciplinary journeythrough time and space—whereculture, sports, and travelconverge along the theme of urban renewal.
Led by young designers, participantstouch the soul of architecture, learning technical details while contemplating the symbiotic wisdom between buildings, people, cities, and nature.
With fitness influencers, they jog along the Huangpu River’s waterfront, feeling the early autumn breeze brush the cables of Lupu Bridge, watching ferries carve golden ripples across the water, and hearing the rustle of ginkgo leaves under runners’ feet in Expo Culture Park.
Guided by photographers, they immerse in the midday hustle of Baotun Road Market, capturing vendors calling out to customers in a chorus of languages.
As night falls, they ascend the"Expo Eye"observatory—transformed from the former Expo Weather Tower—to gaze at the city’s skyline aglow: the warm amber lights of preserved Expo pavilionsin silent dialoguewith the cool blue neon of Lujiazui.
