  The 2025 Osaka World Expo, now in its fourth week since opening, has become one of the most popular destinations during Japan's Golden Week holiday period.

  

  The 2025 Osaka World Expo has welcomed over 1 million visitors within its first month of opening, with its popularity continuing to grow exponentially. The World Expo Museum exhibition area in the International Organizations Pavilion has become one of the most crowded hotspots, drawing constant streams of visitors.

    Destination Future 

  The theme of the exhibition is “Destination Future,” which will be held in the International Organisation Pavilion at the Expo site. The exhibition will utilize digital technology, interactive multimedia, image exhibits and other means of display to show the transformative and innovative impactof the Expo in promoting the progress of human society and sustainable development, and to create a digital exhibition space around the theme of the Expo.

  

  The WEM will showcase a digital exhibition to present the development of the Expos through digital technologies,interactive media and dynamic visual storytelling to explore the Expo’s impact on human progress and sustainable development.The exhibit “Expo Nexus” is the first digital humanities projecton the theme of the Expo, which is collaboration between the WEM, the Shanghai Theatre Academy, and the Shanghai Library Historical Documentation Research Centre. Utilizing digitization, multimodal data integration, interdisciplinary narrative structures, and real-time interaction,“Expo Nexus”offer visitors a comprehensive look at the evolution of Expos. The exhibit also acknowledges the support of the Royal Commissionfor exhibition 1851, organizer of the First World Expo – The Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations – for providingthe historical archiveson the development of the South Kensington site over a hundred years after the Expo was held.

  The exhibition also highlights the long-lasting impactof Expo 2010 Shanghai presenting the transformation of the former Expo site and the opening of the 45-kilometer riverfront walkwayon the both bank of Huangpu River, which visually reflects the transformation of Shanghai's post-Expo development from a “short-term event” to a “long-term dividend”.

  Under the design concept of “transportation hub”, the WEM's exhibition will take visitors on a journey through the milestone of Expo history, connecting moments of global collaboration, technology progress and cultural exchange. The design integrates visual elements inspired by carriages and metros, symbolizing a forward-moving journey through past, present, and future Expos.

  The WEM invites visitors to take the journey to the “Destination Future,” becoming passengers in an exploration of how Expos shape—and are shaped by—the world’s shared aspirations for progress and innovation.
