The opening ceremony of Huang Yongyu's New Works Exhibition was grandly held at the WE Theater of the World Expo Museum on the afternoon of April 15, 2025.

　　The exhibition is jointly organized by the World Expo Museum and the Beijing Fine Art Academy, with the Beijing Fine Art Academy Gallery as the organizer, and supported by Beijing Wanhetang Culture & Art Co., Ltd. and Beijing Barong Culture Co., Ltd. Additional support comes from China Youth Press and Writers Publishing House.

　　This exhibition showcases over 200 works created by Huang Yongyu after the age of 90, including ink paintings, prints, and sculptures, alongside a systematic display of his manuscripts, publications, and archival materials. Through a fresh narrative lens rooted in Shanghai, the exhibition pays profound tribute to the "centenarian artistic maverick" and his passionate contemplation of life.

　　The exhibition especially features Shanghai-themed masterpieces such as "The Luggage" and "Eliminating the Hired Thugs", revealing how this "Paradise of Adventurers" nurtured the avant-garde spirit and boldness ingrained in the artist's character.

　　"Shanghai was once a paradise for adventurers; now it's a cradle for artists—whoever disagrees, I'll thrash them!" Huang Yongyu's witty declaration greets visitors with a playful punch as they explore the gallery.

　　The exhibition design illuminates each gallery space in rainbow hues, echoing Huang Yongyu's iconic declaration:"I came into this world for the sun." Amidst this interplay of light and color, visitors traverse the liberated realms of Huang's brushwork—experiencing both the depth and fervor of his strokes, witnessing how an artist transformed pigments into faith to defy the erosion of time.

　　One can't help but recall that dimly-lit Times Daily editorial office where Feng Xuefeng handed the young "street urchin" Huang Yongyu a manuscript of fables—passing him nothing less than an encrypted critique of reality. Five decades later, Huang responds to those freezing attic nights of woodcut carving with this riotous explosion of ink and color—a delayed but dazzling retort across time.
