"Rome — From Olympus to Capitoline" a grand exhibition of ancient Roman art, is jointly hosted by the World Expo Museum and the National Museums Liverpool. All 131 precious exhibits in this exhibition are from the National Museums Liverpool, which boasts a collection of over four million artifacts, with a classical sculpture collection second only to the British Museum. The exhibits on display represent the finest selections from their holdings. The exhibition features a diverse range of categories, including sculptures, pottery, glassware, gemstones, and sarcophagus reliefs, most of which are being showcased in Shanghai for the first time.
Positioned as a "one-stop journey to experience the brilliance of Western classical civilization," the exhibition is divided into three thematic sections:"Legends of the Gods,""The Glory of the Empire," and "The Feast of Life." It offers a panoramic view of ancient Rome's evolution from mythology to empire to secular life. Each artifact carries profound historical stories, making the exhibition not only a showcase of cultural relics but also a narrative of the evolution of civilization. Among the exhibits, the realistic techniques of ancient Roman sculptures, the exquisite patterns on painted pottery jars, and the luxurious craftsmanship of mosaic murals and gemstones all demonstrate the extraordinary creativity of ancient artists, promising a visually stunning experience for visitors.
