Expo 2010 Shanghai:15 Years in Retrospect

Preface

In 2010, Expo 2010 Shanghai opened a window for dialogue between China and the world under the theme “Better City, Better Life.” Fifteen years on, the grandeur of that moment - when the whole nation participated and the world came together - still glows in the memories of many.

This grand event not only reshaped the face of the city, but also quietly transformed the lives of countless ordinary people. Relocated residents moved into new homes, environmental advocates advanced green reforms, volunteers found love amid their service, and children planted the seeds of dreams to explore the world. And behind it all were the builders and contributors who may never have stood in the spotlight, yet formed the truest foundation of the Expo.

Through the voices of 15 firsthand participants, along with treasured artefacts and archival footage, this exhibition invites you to revisit 2010 to touch the small yet heartwarming stories and to listen to echoes that have resonated across fifteen years.

There is no grand narrative here, only the lives of ordinary people illuminated by the light of the Expo.
