As an international thematic museum jointly built by the Shanghai Municipal Government and Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), the WEM is committed to inheriting the Expo legacy and retaining the essence and continuation of the World Expo effect. It not only carries the nearly 170-year history of the Expo, but also aims to grow with the ever-evolving Expos into an exhibition center, promotion center education center, training center and documentation research center which showcases the culture and innovation of Expos.
This inaugural issue is regarded as an exploration, a challenge, as well as an opportunity. We hope the WEM bulletin to be an ongoing project, to establish a long-term platform for communicating and sharing experience, and discussing the development with our fellows engaged in museums and Expos. As a newcomer in the industry,we hope to receive suggestions and guidance from industry peers through this bulletin.
Considering the nature of the WEM as an international thematic museum, the bulletin set up these following sections: Global Horizon, Expo Vision, Museum Exploration, Expo Updates, 2019 World Expo Museum Annual Report and 2019 WEM Memorabilia.
